The many faces of Ireland and Chloe!

The other night at dinner the girls gave us some good entertainment! They showed us all the faces they can do... it was pretty awesome so I got my camera out to capture it all... kind of a funny blog! Enjoy!!
Chloe's happy face

Chloe's confused face

Ireland's confused face (one of my favorites!)

Aunt Sissy, notice the eyebrow raise... she gets that from you!
Surprised faces

Sad face... doesn't it just break your heart?
Chloe's sad face (another one of my favorites!)
Scared face

I think this is Chloe's scared face... I can't remember!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as we enjoyed the real thing! Funny, funny kids!

Pumkin fun!!!

Sunday after naptime we had some pumpkin fun! We carved and painted pumpkins. The girls enjoyed the painting a lot more than they enjoyed the carving. But I think they had fun with both!

Chris and Ireland went on a date to the movies after church on Sunday. So Chloe and I went to go pick out the pumpkins while they were gone. She was so proud of herself and picked one pumpkin for each member of the family. She even remembered which pumpkin went to which person when we got home!

Neither of the girls liked the pumpkin guts. I think you can tell in this picture that Ireland was pretty grossed out by it... If you remember last year, she almost threw up when she tired to clean out her pumpkin. This year was a little better, but she still didn't like it.
Chloe wouldn't even try it. So Chris and I ended up cleaning out all 4 of the pumpkins :)

After the pumpkins were cleaned we let the girls draw the faces on the pumpkins. They decided that they were going to make their pumpkins Mickey Mouse... go figure.

I love the concentration on her face... this is some serious work!
After they drew the faces and Mommy carved them out (Chris didn't help, he was too busy carving his own detailed pumpkin) it was time to paint the little ones.

Ireland and Chloe both loved painting the pumpkins last year and they were so excited to do it again this year! A nice new tradition at the Shellaby house!
The finished product all lit up. They turned out pretty cool!
(Notice the holes on the sides of the girls pumpkins... Mickey's ears of course!)

This is what Chris did while the girls drew and painted.

Ireland's pumpkin... I think it looks kind of a lot like Mickey Mouse. I was pretty impressed with her drawing skills!
Chloe's pumpkin... She did a really good job drawing the face! It turned out so cute!

The whole gang of pumpkins... what a fun night!
How did your pumpkins turn out this year?

Yummy!!!

The other night the girls and I made caramel apples.
They were actually really excited about unwrapping all the individually wrapped caramels! You can see the concentration! Ireland took it upon herself to get dressed for the event... she has on an apron and chefs hat (a birthday present from the Oakes to Chloe). Therefore, Ireland looks pretty awesome in all of the following pictures!

On the stove ready for some heat!

The little chefs for the night!

I let them put sprinkles on the apples after I was done dipping them. I felt kind of bad because they didn't get to do much of the apple dipping process... I melted the caramel and dipped all the apples. So really all they did was unwrap the caramels... and lets be honest, that is kind of lame. So I let them put sprinkles on them just to create one extra step.

Luckily (somewhat as planned) the caramel was just cool enough that the sprinkles didn't stick but they had fun making the mess!

All in all it was a fun time! The girls liked it and that is all that matters!

3 mile track....

Chris' unit has started a new PT schedule. They now have PT in the afternoon instead of the morning. I kind of like it better this way, but I miss the way it use to be too. With it being in the afternoon we don't get to see him in the morning... but he stays up a little later this way...
Anyways, the other day he had PT at the 3 mile track and asked if we wanted to meet him over there after it was over. So we went and walked to the park. It's an old park that is all metal (gasp) and very unsafe, I'm sure. But the girls love it!
The 3 mile track use to go around a golf course. The golf course isn't up and running now... so it just goes around a pretty empty field. The girls and Chris were watching a bird go fishing. They thought it was pretty neat.
They enjoyed being able to run ahead of us. We didn't make them hold our hands and they thought that was pretty neat!
But they did plenty of holding each others hands!! :)
Ireland was brave enough to go on the really big tall slide (you remember the kind... tall, twirly, and metal) and was very proud. She wanted me to document every part of it, so here it is!
Climbing up the tall rainbow shaped ladder.
Way up high on the stairs to the slide.
She made it to the bottom in one piece and very proud!
Chloe played on these most of the time... there was a time that she hated these things... this one in particular. It made her cry when I put her on it. But this time around, all she wanted to do was play on these little animal spring things.
There is an area full of them and that is where she spent most of her time!
You see her out there all by herself? She was in heaven! :)
We had fun at the track... it ended up being a very long walk (and we only did about half) and we ended up having a very late dinner... But we had a good time!

Oktoberfest!!

Yesterday we got to go to Okotberfest here on post. They have one every year and its just right down the street from us. There is loads of stuff for the kids to do. So we walked down there yesterday after nap time. It was a little chilly (nothing like Colorado yesterday where they got SNOW) but still lots of fun.

The girls had lots of fun walking on the "road" that was closed off. I guess they felt like rebels walking on the street we drive on almost every day!

There were all kinds of rides for the girls. I am a little nervous about them riding all the rickety looking rides, but Chris told me to relax (weird) and they would be fine.
They LOVED them all! It was so great to see them have so much fun!

Chris rode one ride with them. It was a spinning ride. Chloe loved it!!! I think this picture is pretty classic... you can see in her face how much she is loving it! Tea Cups here we come!!! :)

They rode the next ride by themselves and loved that one too!

This is a slide that Ireland went on. It was so big but she wasn't scared at all. It was pretty awesome to watch!

They also got their face painted. They both picked cats.

This might be the best picture ever of them! Even with the face paint on I think it might be one of my favorites!

Here they are being cats... weirdos!

Kitty kisses

Walking home. Daddy took them down by this creek and skipped rocks for them.

All in all it was a really fun night! We all had a good time but were ready to get home to the nice big pot of tortilla soup waiting for us... and to watch the Texas vs Colorado game... hoping to see Colorado have their upset of the season... too bad it didn't happen!
